Welcome to Cortijo El Indiviso, an amazing place to stay on Spain’s Costa de La Luz (Coast of Light).
Our property’s aim is for you to feel like you are at a second home, relaxing and enjoying a well-earned break from everyday life. Whether you want to sit back with a cool drink, discover the beautiful surrounding towns and natural areas, or both, this is certainly the place for you. We welcome singles, couples, children and pets.
Built in 1895 and recently renovated, the property is a mix of traditional features and modern comforts. To the point where you can log on to our super fast WiFi while sitting in the shade of a 700 year-old olive tree!
Set around a traditional Andalusian courtyard, all rooms (each with its own unique features) have either courtyard or garden views, air conditioning, and a private bathroom.
The weather is usually amazing, so you will be able to enjoy our large seasonal outdoor pool and barbecue facilities, sit in the Courtyard surrounded by blossom and fruit trees, read a book swaying in a hammock, or take leisurely evening walks to the edge of the hillside for a truly stunning sunset view of Vejer de la Frontera, one of Spain’s most beautiful villages.
To add to the charming and rustic surroundings, we also have a family of animals that call this place their home. Some, like the dogs, cats, chickens, geese, goats, donkeys and horses, are residents here, while others such as wild storks or birds of prey are seasonal visitors that frequently fly over, or sometimes even nest on property grounds.
If you are a horse lover, then you’ll be in your element! Just around the corner from our pool, there are paddocks, stables, arenas, pens... and of course the equines themselves. Some belong to us, and others are here on livery. You are free to stroll around and enjoy meeting them all, but please refrain from entering the paddocks (click here to read our Animal Welfare and Safety section).
We have animal care staff on site who will be happy to inform you about all our furry and feathery residents, and may also be able to organise horse riding lessons or even hacks around the area, depending on weather and of course the horses themselves.
In terms of routes on horseback, there are various to choose from, but we recommend making your way down to the Marismas (marshes) of Barbate. This route offers spectacular scenic views and you also get a chance to see many species of wildlife such as migratory birds. Please inquire as soon as possible for us to organise this.
As you can imagine, El Indiviso is a truly ideal place to immerse ones-self into.
In addition, and despite the pleasant feeling that the property is in its own little world apart, we are remarkably well positioned: only 15-20 minutes from nearby towns such as Vejer de la Frontera or Barbate, and beautiful natural beaches such as El Palmar and Zahora. Tarifa, the windsurf and kite- surf capital of Europe, is 25 minutes away. If you want to go further afield, we are also 45 minutes from the city of Cadiz, 55 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera, and about 1 hour from Gibraltar. In fact, if you are truly adventurous, you can even visit Morocco for a day trip and be back for dinner!
For nature lovers, there is seasonal bird watching or whale watching, as well as amazing hikes, both coastal and in-land. Or if you enjoy history, there are many interesting locations such as Cape
Trafalgar, where Admiral Lord Nelson won the famous 1805 naval battle against Napoleon, or the over-2000 year old roman settlement of Baelo Claudia, which boasts the remains of a theatre, market and temple of Isis, making it the most comprehensive Roman town in the Iberian peninsula.
